Giorgio Ardisson stars as Vince Dreyser, an American gumshoe detective in Rome who agrees to meet an old chemist friend named Walter Dempsey (Hans von Borsody), who is also in the city to marry a woman named Lidia. When his friend fails to show up, Dreyser begins searching for him, only to be attacked by two gangsters. The baffled detective attempts to keep his obligations to look after Fidelia Forrester (Ella Karin), the wild hippie daughter of his wealthy employer, while continuing his investigation into Dempsey's whereabouts. Dreyser's search soon leads him to yet another gangster, whom he shoots to death, but as people start being murdered left and right it becomes clear that there is another, more sinister hand at work.

Film combines documentary and fiction to craft a multi-layered portrait of a certain corner of the Portuguese countryside. The place comes alive each August when it hosts a series of travelling music bands that go from village to village staging outdoor concerts, playing cheesy pop with romantic lyrics. The first half of the film – is fairly "straight" documentary with an ethnographic and anthropological bent, immersing us in the particularities and peculiarities of place.
Then, at some point, some of the folks we've met begin to turn into movie characters -- a girl whose job is to sit atop a tower and watch for forest fires becomes the movie's heroine -- and we get our little story of illicit romance and other amorous troubles.

Kulema is amazed when Petrov lands a seemingly wonderful job that includes meals, board, and 5,000 rubles a week. He moves in with a middle class family and his job is to be a "listener". While the job sounds like a dream, the reality is a nightmare. Basically, Petrov's job is to absorb all the family's frustrations and anger, and in this function, the family can communicate with each pleasantly and rationally while Petrov absorbs all the domestic unpleasantness.

Candace Hilligloss plays the only survivor of a carload of girls that falls into a river after an ill-advised drag race. She seems unharmed, so she leaves town for a job in Utah as a church organist. She is tormented by visions of a ghoul played by director Harvey. Other things are wrong, too; while trying on a dress at a department store, she realizes that none of the other people in the store can hear her. This lasts for several moments as she flees the store for a park. She runs into a doctor (Sidney Berger), who is fascinated by her story, and offers to help as much as he can. But the visions come more and more frequently, and she finds herself drawn to a ghostly abandoned amusement park outside of town. She realizes that the ghoulish man wants to take her back to somewhere she doesn't want to go, but it's too late for her when she finally finds out where that is.

The Idiot is an adaptation of Dostoyevsky's novel.
Kurosawa takes Dostoyevsky's very Russian tale and attempts to set it within the world of postwar Japan. The novel's Prince Myshkin is replaced by Kinji Kameda (Masayuki Mori), a war veteran who lost his mind when he was condemned to death and then released. Kameda is a kind, gentle soul who can think no evil of anyone, and only does what he feels is honorable. The film tells the story of his tortured journey as he is pulled, pushed, manipulated, and befriended by the more complicated ordinary human beings of the world. These people include the volatile Akama (Toshiro Mifune), the femme fatale-like Taeko Nasu (Setsuko Hara), and the sweet young Ayoko (Yoshiko Kuga).

The action starts at a political rally, when Toad (Hugh Keays-Byrne), a member of the Grave Diggers motorcycle club witnesses the assassination of a local politician. Of course the fact that Toad was so stoned out of his mind when he saw the killing that he probably wouldn't be able to tell the killer from a large plate of scrambled eggs makes no difference at all; and the killer still starts systematically knocking off the Grave Diggers to cover his trail. Enter Stone (Ken Shorter), a motorcycle-riding, long-hair loner cop who decides to join the Grave Diggers with the hope he can protect them from more murders, and find the killer. Some of the gang is apprehensive, but their leader, The Undertaker (Harbutt), agrees to let Stone ride with the Grave Diggers. It isn't long before Stone begins to fit in with the others, so much so that his girlfriend begins to worry about him. But as the killer begins to close in on the Grave Diggers, Stone must come to grips with the fact that even th ough he sees himself as part of the gang, he's still a cop sworn to uphold the law, which is something that goes against everything the Grave Diggers stand for. Eventually, Stone must make a decision as to what he will do, and which path he will chose.

Something is destroying fishing boats off the Japanese island of Odo, and one of the village elders suspects it's a mythical "sea god" known as "Godzilla". As the country's best scientists investigate, they discover that the old man was right after all: the country is under siege by an enormous destructive lizard monster, set free by a nuclear explosion. Can the monster be stopped before all of Japan is laid to waste?

The best bonus feature on the disc is an entire alternate cut of the movie, the U.S.-released Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The American version adds in new scenes of Raymond Burr as a reporter following the monster attacks, but cuts out a lot of material from the Japanese film; even with the new footage, King of the Monsters runs only 81 minutes. The American cut moves much more quickly and certainly has its champions, but loses so much of the Japanese identity that makes the '54 film so fascinating. If nothing else, it provides an interesting counterpoint to the Japanese movie, and demonstrates that even in the mid-1950s, American studios were less interested in substance than in entertainment value.
