Made shortly after the success of his XXX debut, The Private Afternoons Of Pamela Mann, Radley Metzger's 1975 film Naked Came The Stranger (an adaptation of the book of the same name written by 'Penelope Ashe' - a fictitious author who was actually and notoriously a collection of Newsweek writers out to prove that Americans cared more about salacious thrills than good writing) stars Darby Lloyd Rains (in a career-best role) and Levi Richards.
Set in swinging 1970s New York, the film follows the sexual exploits of radio host Gillian Blake as she sets out to even the score with her philandering husband, Billy. Embarking on a series of torrid affairs with friends and acquaintances, Gilly ultimately ensnares the one person who can shake her husband's smug complacency to the core.
