Forst plays a prince who is forced to abdicate and actually likes the idea, as he prefers an easy-going life at the Riviera to matters of state anyhow. In his exile, due to a misunderstanding he gets into the apartment of a beautiful young lady (Haid) one night and falls in love with her, but both don't reveal their identity. So the prince doesn't know that the lady is Mary Morena, an actress who got expelled from his country because she had sung a respectless song about him. And now the lady intends to take her revenge on the prince. The prince meanwhile has other problems, because his aunt, the ex-queen, wants to marry him off to another aristocratic girl. Quite apart from the fact that he has reason to suspect that Miss Morena has regular secret tete-a-tetes with someone else...
