The five feature-length episodes that aired each had millions of viewers, and their subject matter was fashioned with a wide audience in mind. They take place in Cologne. At the center of the series is the romantic union of a young, skilled factory technician named Jochen (Gottfried John) and a newspaper assistant named Marion (Hanna Schygulla).
