In Rio de Janeiro, the friends Fernando, Honorio and Afonso "Fonsinho" meet every night at the Bar Hamonia to drink served by the waiter Jorge and talk about women. Fernando is not happy with his failed marriage to Victoria, while his friend Honorio, a chauvinist who is married to successful journalist Leila, suspects that the wife is cheating on him. Afonsinho is friends with both, he dreams of becoming a successful writer. Besides that, he prefers to go to prostitutes rather than having a relationship. The trio is trying to find out what does it take for a man to survive in a world populated by strong women.
