This historically important 10-DVD set captures all of Miles Davis' performances at the renowned Montreux Jazz Festival between 1973 and 1991, the last being less than three months before his death. The final concert from 1991 sees Miles Davis paying tribute to his collaborator and close friend Gil Evans who had died in 1988.

An epic art-house drama spanning more than half of the 20th century, The Dust of Time is an intriguing attempt to weave the life of one family into the wider socio-political context of the modern era.

The complex plot revolves around a film director named A (Willem Dafoe) who is in Rome shooting a film about his parents, when his adolescent daughter mysteriously goes missing in Berlin. Angelopoulos weaves together an intricate (and often confusing) narrative, which fuses past and present, fiction and reality, reliving the epic journey of A's parents alongside the present day narrative of his missing daughter. We travel across three continents, incorporating an impressive array of locations, from Rome to Berlin, Taskhkent, Siberia and even the United States.

The Dust of Time is the second part of Angelopoulos' Trilogy of which the first was the impressive Weeping Meadow.

The Age of Innocence (1993) 2 x DVD9 and Blu-Ray Criterion Collection

Edith Wharton's ironically titled novel of 19th century New York, The Age of Innocence, won her the Pulitzer Prize for fiction, the first time that a woman won that award. The classic novel here is realized in an equally classic manner by Martin Scorsese, a director one would expect to be more at home with his usual films of urban crime than in 19th century drawing rooms.

Wayland Archer (Daniel Day-Lewis) has just become engaged to May Welland (Winona Ryder). They live in quite straitlaced New York uppercrust society, where societal custom and influence control everything. Their staid way of life is disrupted, however, with the return to America of May's cousin Countess Ellen Olenska (Michelle Pfeiffer), a free-spirited woman who carries on with lovers despite remaining married to the dissolute count. Before long, Archer finds himself falling deeply in love with Ellen, and must face the possible ostracism and scorn that would surely follow if he acts upon his desires.
