Umbrella Entertainment's Worlds on Film: Beyond Genres line of titles continues with Vol 2: Bride of Re-Animator and Beyond Re-Animator. Bride is the 1991 sequel to Re-Animator and Beyond is third entry in the series from 2003, both directed by the original film's producer Brian Yuzna. They continue the misadventures of Dr. Herbert West, played by Jeffrey Combs, a mad scientist who develops a way of bringing dead tissue back to life, but with monstrously chaotic results. While the results were mixed, Umbrella's Blu-ray treatment of both films is nothing short of impressive.

Bride of Re-Animator: Dr. Herbert West (Jeffery Combs) and his longsuffering colleague Dr. Dan Cain (Bruce Abbott) resume their former positions at the Miskatonic University. Eight months following the climatic massacre from the original film, Dr. West has shifted his horrific experiments to entail creating new life.

Four-teen years later, Beyond Re-Animator finds the mad but undeterred Dr. West behind bars serving time, and a new prison doctor becomes a valuable tool in the experimenter's research, which has taken its most bizarre turn yet.

The Tracker (2002) DVD9, Blu-Ray

Set in 1922 in the Australian outback, four men are tracking an aboriginal man accused of murdering a white woman. The leader of the troop is an officer nicknamed "The Fanatic" (played by Gary Sweet), a headstrong man who sees only the law as the single side. And in a time when Aboriginals were not considered "man", he does not see the target or the others that may be encountered on the journey as people but savages that can turn at any time. "The Follower" (played by Damon Gameau) is the youngest of all in his early twenties. Dressed professionally in greenhorn attire at all times in the hot desert, he is the least experienced on the manhunt but is eager to put his skills to the test. "The Veteran" (played by Grant Page) is the eldest and most experienced of the group and the one that was roped in for the missing. But the one leading the white men on the trail is "The Tracker" (played by David Gulpilil) an aboriginal man who knows more about the outback and the ways of the native people than the three white men combined.

While on the trail of finding the fugitive, the men encounter a small tribe that are unable to help with information. Interrogation gives no clues and the men and women are massacred by the Fanatic one by one. The young Follower is traumatized from the event, the Veteran is unfazed, and the Tracker had seen it coming from miles away and unable to do anything. From hereon the group of men's quest becomes one that will test them mentally, physically, and emotionally as allegiances start to tear apart and trusting each other becomes impossible.

The film tells the strange story of the titular Sylvia (Joanna Bell), a woman who suffers from multiple personality disorder. Any time she becomes sexually aroused, one of her personalities will become dominant and she'll stop at nothing to get the physical satisfaction she wants.

Sylvia's behavior confuses her friends, some of whom start to wonder if she might be possessed by a demon or something. She sees a psychiatrist named Dr. Balaban (played by Peters himself) who does his best to help her, but it looks like Sylvia has bought herself a one way ticket to a sexually repressed and religiously bizarre crazy town.

Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters (1985) 2 x DVD9 (2008 edition) and Blu-Ray (2018 edition) Criterion Collection

At the age of 45, Yukio Mishima had written 40 novels, 18 plays, and 20 volumes of short stories and essays. He was Japan's most prestigious writer, sometimes mentioned for the Nobel Prize. Mishima, a man of many roles, was also married, militaristic, homosexual, a body builder, an actor, and a devotee of the Japanese martial tradition.

On November 25, 1970, Mishima and four members of the Shield Society, his private army, took over the Ichigaya military headquarters in Tokyo. The troops were assembled to hear the famous writer speak out against what he saw as Japan's decadence. His call for an uprising to assert the country's imperial traditions fell on deaf ears. Mishima then killed himself by ritual seppuku.

Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters is, according to director Paul Schrader, not a biographical portrait of the artist but "an interpretation" of his life and work. The drama's four chapters are "Beauty," focusing on Mishima's youthful aesthetic interest; "Art," centered around his vocation as an artist; "Action," in which the accent is politics; and "The Harmony of the Pen and the Sword," which concludes with Mishima's attempt to create meaning through his own death.

The film covers the last day in MIshima's life, flashbacks to his childhood and youth, and vignettes from three of his novels — Temple of the Golden Pavilion, Kyoko's House, and Runaway Horses.
